This half term we have linked our learning to our book 'Cosmic' by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and had a Science focus.
Space art
Science investigation: comparing distances from each planet to the sun
Spring 1
This half term, we read the 'Just So Stories' and 'Seasons of Splendour' and had a Geography focus. We compared India to the UK, considering human and physical features. We also researched and designed an Indian style pattern for fabric as well as created an elephant stuffed toy in DT. We learnt how to use a blanket stitch to join the fabric together.

Kindness week 13-17th November 2023
This week, Ashevak made cards to those who work on Sidcup High street to show our appreciation and brighten their mood. We went to lots of businesses: Walnuts, opticians, hair and beauty salons, charity shops, different cafés, pharmacies, a dental practice, the library and more. We loved seeing the smile it put on people’s faces and knowing that we have had a positive impact on their day. It was also lovely to chat with members of our community. At ‘The Works,’ the staff paid kindness forward by giving our school two cuddly toys.
Autumn 2
All hail Macbeth...
We have got stuck into our new text 'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare. To understand the plot of this tragedy, we have completed lots of drama and art around this. Our Macbeth workshop was a great opportunity to act out each part of the story as well as creating a tableau and soundscape alongside. We learnt the different parts of the stage, including what used to be known as 'the Penny Stinkers' at the Globe theatre.
Autumn 1
In the book ‘Skellig,’ the protagonist, Michael, has recently moved house with his parents and premature baby sister. The house needs a lot of repairs and Michael can’t resist going into the forbidden garage. Inside, he finds a weak creature that needs some help. Who is this creature and why is he in the garage?
Creating our shrine boxes
As Michael’s baby sister is premature, she is unwell and needs to be in hospital often. Whilst she is staying in hospital, we thought about which personal items Michael could give to her in a shrine box. We made and decorated shrine boxes from Michael. Additionally, we made our own shrine box for homework.
