Evolving the Parents Association

The Parents Association is changing! We’ve increased our numbers and have planned ahead for the year, with lots of great events planned for children and the entire family (more details on these below).

We’ve also changed our name to Friends of Longlands School or FOLS for short). This is an important step as we seek to promote a greater sense of community - and we want everyone to feel like they can get involved with our fund raising efforts, no matter how big or small across the year.

Getting in touch To keep up to date with all FOLS activity you can follow us on social media (details below), as well as checking the regular emails that are sent from the school. We’ll regularly keep you up-to-date on the fund raising efforts and what the money has been able to supply for the children.

Please email or message us if you would like to have a bigger part in FOLS in anyway.

Fundraising so far

A huge well done and sincere thank you to you, the school community, for all of the money you have raised so far. We appreciate you contributing to events and sponsoring of the children, especially at Christmas, where you raised £2,300. The money raised over the past three years has meant that the school has been able to buy two, much needed, wooden cabins for the playground; enhancing the OPAL scheme that is currently being introduced. Look out for the Rainforest Reading Room and the Arts & Crafts cabin which are being built soon. In addition to this, we are continuing to fund The Power of Reading scheme; a fantastic programme that enhances your child’s learning experience (https://clpe.org.uk/powerofreading).

We’re committed to providing you with an events calendar so that you may plan ahead for the fund raising activity. We’re delighted to confirm the following activity over the next few months.

• Friday 25th February World Book Day costume sale

• Friday 11th March Parents and Carers Quiz Night

• Week Commencing 21st March Sponsored Bunny Hop

• Friday 1st April School Disco
