Lowry Year 4

Welcome to Lowry!

What a fantastic start to Year 4!

Wow - what a fantastic start we've had to the new term! Mrs Thomas, Mrs Bishop and I have enjoyed getting to know all of the children! We've already began to delve into our new topic 'Scrumdiddlyumptious' and we have started to work super hard in our Maths and English lessons.

They are a wonderful class and we are very excited to explore our learning journey together this year.

Miss Roberts (Class Teacher), Mrs Thomas (Teaching Assistant/1:1 Support), Mrs Bishop (Teaching Assistant/1:1 Support).

Important Information:

Spellings-weekly-sent home on Friday and the children will be tested on the following Friday morning.

We currently have an incentive in Lowry class, if children get 8/10 or above in both their spellings and times tables test, they will get to move up a place on the class chart. When the children reach the top they will win a 'Dip in the Box'. In addition, children who beat their previous weeks score, will get a house point!!!!

Maths and English homework will be sent out on Wednesday and should be completed and returned for the following Monday (should not take longer than 30 minutes to complete.)

Maths and English homework will usually be related to the work covered in class, or aimed at specific learning areas that will close the gap and benefit future learning. Homework should be completed in pencil, please.

Reading Books: Children may change the book whenever they wish. However, once children start a book they are expected to finish it.

Children should bring Reading Records in to school on Mondays for checking (your child should write their comment in the book after reading and parents should sign the books at least once a week.) A recommended reading list for Year 4 is being put together, we read at the end of each day as a whole class in Year 4, in addition to independent daily reading, as we aim to encourage children to read for pleasure.

We have a 'Library Card' reading chart in class that Mrs Thomas has set up to encourage children to read. This incentive gives children each a 'Library Card', these will allow children to 'Loan Books' from Mrs Thomas and I. Once children have read these, they will return them to Mrs Thomas, (with their library card and a verbal review), and then they will move a place up on the reading chart! ... resulting in a 'Dip in the Box' when they reach the top.

PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays (PE kit should be named and left in school).

Children should have plimsoles for indoor PE and trainers for outdoor and hairbands/earring tape.

Children should bring in book bags every day, please.

Thank You!

Miss Roberts, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Bishop
