School Council

We have a school council at Longlands where we meet once a month to discuss ways to improve our school.

School Council 2023 2024

School Council visited St Margarets Care home and made craft easter bunnies with the residents.

School Council were responsible for designing and making our School Value art canvasses which they then shared with the whole school in assembly.

School Council Members 2022 2023

This year, the school council have been forefront at celebrating our individual class teams with the rest of the school community. This started with celebrating the diverse artists which they are named after. Each school council member was responsible for presenting their artist to other classes and discussing how their class created their linked art pieces.

Along with this the school council continue to discuss what is working well within the school, how the school environment can be improved, such as play equipment, and how we as a school may be able to celebrate other additional days (such as Earth Day) to help the environment.

School Council Members 2021 2022

This year, the school council will be heavily involved in deciding how to improve our playground and supporting the Opal programmes introduction.

School Council met with our local MP Louie French and asked him lots of questions!

Our School Council met and decided on our Children's Play Charter.

Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.  This academic year 2020/2021 due to the restrictions of Covid 19 we will not be able to meet personally but each school council rep is invited to take part in discussions and make comments and suggestions on our own Google Classroom page. The children can use their usual usernames and passwords and when they log in they need to click on School Council. The children that were elected from each class are as follows:

This year school council will be responsible alongside years 5 and 6 to take the lead on our local action project in association with the WE charity which will be to support the homeless people in Bexley. Tell your school council rep how you think we could help, if we all share our ideas I'm sure we can come up with something fantastic that could really make a difference!

School Council decided we needed to have a friendship bench in the playground to help children if they were feeling lonely. The children designed and then painted this amazing bench which hopefully will support children to make new friends and feel happier.

The Mayors visit to our school March 2016! What an exciting afternoon we all had. The Mayor was greeted  by our head boy and girl and some of the School Council members. The Mayor was taken on a tour of the school by some of the children and was very impressed with the classes, their displays and the learning she saw taking place. The Mayor then hosted a whole school assembly where she showed the children her ceremonial clothes and talked about her diverse role as Mayor in the Bexley community. The School Council then hosted an afternoon tea in Miss Owens conference room, where the children got to talk to the Mayor and ask her questions. The Mayor was delighted by her visit to our school and thanked everyone, for their warm welcome. Here are some pictures of the afternoon.
On Friday 17th April, we visited 'The Houses of Parliament' we learnt all about the history of 'The Palace of Westminster' and got to stand in 'The House of Lords' and 'The House of Commons' and see parliament is run.
