Thank you!

It was very emotional and hugely difficult for us both saying goodbye to such a wonderful class of children and parents. Thank you all for your kind wishes, generous gifts and love and support shown to us both. We shall miss each and every one of you, but know that the children will thrive under the care and guidance of Mr Murphy.

PE - After February half term, Matisse class will revert back to having PE on a Thursday. From 24th February, children are to come to school in their PE kits every Thursday please - thank you.

Forest School - After February half term , we will be back to visiting our Forest area every Thursday. We hope to continue to go in cold/wet weather, so please ensure your child has warm, waterproof clothing in school on a Thursday.

HW - Homework will be set every Friday at 3.30pm via Google Classroom. This needs to be completed and returned to school by the following Wednesday please.

Reading - Please can you ensure that your child brings their reading books into school DAILY. If there is ever a spare moment in the day we often use the opportunity to squeeze in some extra reading.  Please encourage your child to read their phonics book daily and please record their progress at least once per week in their reading record book.

Matisse Class have had a busy September! Here are some photographs of just some of the activities we have been doing!

Matisse class have has an awesome October! From making bug hotels, to developing our gymnastic skills in PE - Matisse class have worked so hard and had lots of fun!

November has been a very busy month for Matisse Class! Even though the weather has turned chilly, we have been exploring and learning in our indoor and outdoor classrooms. We have enjoyed learning about the seasons, finding out about nocturnal and diurnal animals and exploring light and dark. Mrs Doherty and Miss Kiely are super proud of our work in maths and phonics too. They say we are all superstars!

Matisse Class demonstrated just how lovely a class they are during kindness week. We visited local businesses and shops to say thank you for all they do, and we delivered pictures and hid decorated stones to cheer people up in our local area. We didn't forget to say thank you to our families too - they loved their flowers!

Forest school is always a highlight of our week. We have enjoyed making bug hotels, bird feeders and using nature to make repeating patterns and crowns. But some of the best fun is simply kicking up all the lovely leaves that have fallen off of the trees!

We have been learning about shapes. Matisse class went on a shape hunt around the school grounds to find everyday objects that are the same as 3D shapes we have been learning in class.

Skills builder week saw Matisse Class get creative with some upcycling of old clothes. The children showed great team work and their finished items were nothing less than impressive!

December has been a month of super learning and lots of festive fun! We think the children were amazing in their Christmas show - we hope you enjoyed it too. In this month's slide show you will see photos from our Christmas jumper day, Santa's Busy Night production, festive fun with the PA in our school hall and our efforts in the Santa Dash! Merry Christmas!

On Friday 14th January, Matisse Class went on an impromptu visit to The Catch - our local fish and chip shop! We bought CHips, received CHange, said THank you, gave a THumbs up and saw many SHops on our way to and from The CatCH. It was a super fun way to support our phonics this week. We all agreed the chips were delicious!

Matisse Class have kicked of 2022 in style! Our space topic has proven very popular with the children and we were thrilled to see so many wonderful space projects completed at home. Along with learning our planet songs and discovering new space facts, we have designed our own aliens and enjoyed helping Beeju the alien return to her planet! We have also been very busy learning about Chinese New Year - making dragons, lanterns, fans and trying our hand at writing Chinese numerals!

Number day was lots of fun on February 4th! Everybody looked numbertastic in their special clothes! We all enjoyed helping to measure out ingredients to bake cakes and cookies - and even more fun decorating them once they had cooled! We had a whole day of number activities with the Number blocks and we hope we all helped to raise money for the NSPCC.
