Ofsted Judgement
Thu 28 Mar 2019Dear Parents and Carers,
As you are aware just over two weeks ago the school had its Ofsted inspection and I am pleased to inform you that I have now received the outcome letter and can share the contents with you.
The judgment made was that the school continues to be good and safeguarding is effective. We are delighted with the outcome and believe that it is a reflection of the hard work to continue to improve the school since the last inspection four years ago. The inspection letter can be found on the school website and I encourage you to take time to read the contents.
I would also like to explain that the school received a short section 8 inspection which took place over one day. Short inspections are of schools that were good at their previous inspection to check that they remain good. These inspections last one day and typically take place every three to four years.
In the case of our outcome where the lead inspector judged that the school remains good, the lead inspector will also suggest next steps for the school to work on before the next short inspection. These recommendations are detailed towards the end of the letter from the inspector.
Being mindful of the environment, we have decided not to send out hard copies of the letter, but if for some reason you are unable to access the letter electronically paper copies will be available in the entrance foyer.

Inclement Weather
Tue 29 Jan 2019If we were to experience a bout of heavy snowfall it is fairly likely that not all the staff will be able to get into school (very few live walking distance away) in which case I would be forced to close the school. Please do not telephone the school. My decision whether or not to open the school during heavy snow/ice is decided, in the main, by how many staff can get to work. Staff cannot phone through to me if the line is constantly engaged. We aim to keep the school website updated regarding school closure and have a link to OPENCHECK on the home page of our website www.longlands.bexley.sch.uk. Parents without internet access can telephone 0208 408 7508 and enter the school’s Dfe number 3032049 to get the school closure information. We will make every effort to make a decision by 8am in the morning.

Nativity Performances
Wed 05 Dec 2018Dear Parents and Carers,
Your child will be bringing home Nativity tickets this evening as per your order on our online booking system. The tickets are colour coded to specific performances and only this coloured ticket will be permitted access to each event. Should you discover that you do not need all of the tickets you have ordered, please return them to the school office as we have waiting lists in place.
On the day of each performance, access to the school hall will be via the rear gates in Woodside Crescent. The doors for the audience will be opened once the children are in place and settled. Please make every effort not to be late as the doors will shut once the performance starts and late-comers can be distracting for the children.
Key Stage 1 & EYFS have been working incredibly hard to put together a fantastic Nativity for you. We hope that you enjoy it.

Bexley Selection Test- School Closure Wednesday 12th September AM
